CIAT UK launches training on airside system design and application

LEATHERHEAD, UK -

CIAT UK is introducing a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training course on the design and application of airside heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. CIAT is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe and sustainable building and cold chain solutions.

The module, approved by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), is designed to quickly get contractors, consultants and end users up-to-speed with the requirements of the latest legislation and technical standards relating to application of air handling units (AHUs) in commercial and public buildings.

The training covers the requirements of the Ecodesign Directive and Lot 6 (ventilation equipment) under the Energy-related Products (ErP) Directive, with specific reference to AHU energy efficiency, heat recovery, air filtration and thermal insulation standards.

"Major improvements are underway in AHU design and performance as part of the European-wide drive to reduce carbon emissions of energy-using equipment by 40% by 2030," said Lee Jenkins-Skinner, AHU & rooftop product manager, CIAT. The new module explains the legislative framework and highlights the implications for air handling units, and what system designers and end users need to know.

"It is important to ensure airside equipment is compliant, not only to ensure legally compliant buildings, but to deliver the big reductions in emissions required - which of course also translate into reduced running costs for end users and improved comfort for building occupants," said Jenkins-Skinner.

The course also covers the role of airside and related technology in supporting healthy buildings. It includes an update on high resolution filtration and UV-C light disinfection systems for reducing risks from airborne contaminants and pathogens.

Those completing the course, which is free, receive a certificate and credits towards their annual personal CPD targets.
